Community development

The clinic believes strongly that those who are best equipped to help injured workers are injured workers themselves.

By providing assistance such as in-person and virtual meeting spaces, logistical supports, technical training, peer-support skills, and legal education, IWC helps to empower and build capacity in the community.

We regularly offer training to injured worker groups on organizing, public speaking, lobbying, social media strategy, and , of course, how the Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board works.

  • IWC hosts monthly injured worker drop ins, which include an educational component and a community organizing and discussion component. These meetings are generally the fourth Wednesday of every month, but check the calendar here for details: https://injuredworkersonline.org/events/calendar-view/

By strengthening the skillset and knowledge base of community members, IWC aims to help injured workers self-advocate and play a leading role in the fight for a more just workers’ compensation system.
