IWC provides comprehensive legal advice and representation in all matters related to workers compensation. Our caseworkers advocate on behalf of injured workers before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal (WSIAT), and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO). We also provide detailed advice to help workers self-advocate and understand their legal rights on workers compensation matters.
If you would like to speak to a caseworker, please contact our office at (416) 461-2411 (or toll-free 1 (833) 461-2411) to schedule an appointment. It may be a few weeks before we have an opening for an appointment. The initial appointment will be over the phone unless prior arrangements for an in-person meeting have been made. We have access to interpretation in all languages at no cost to you.
As we are a legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario, we may ask you questions about your household income to assess whether you qualify for our services and for your contact information.
We pride ourselves on providing comprehensive advice relating to workers’ compensation matters to those who contact our office, but there may be situations where we are unable to assist you, given the nature of the issues, for example. If that’s the case, we will make all reasonable efforts to refer you to someone who can better advise and/or assist you.
IWC caseworkers are also available for advice, case consultation and mentoring of staff in other community legal clinics.
IWC caseworkers may provide summary legal advice and information to health care professionals who are assisting a patient to navigate the workers compensation process.
